Reisi buying Adolf something unrequested because it made Reisi think of him
I could see Munakata being thoughtful this way, he strikes me as someone who would notice even small things about his partner and keep those in mind. Imagine one day he’s like in a toy store buying something for his niece and nephew and he spots this figure kit for making an airship, it immediately reminds him of the Himmelreich. He ends up buying it and then the next time he meets Shiro for a date Munakata proudly presents him the figure. Shiro’s curious what sort of present Munakata decided to buy for him (having heard the stories and been dating Munakata for long enough, he half expects a puzzle of his own face).
When he sees the kit though he laughs, Munakata notes that as he was perhaps slightly responsible for the original airship crashing he thought he might buy Shiro a new one. Shiro says Munakata will have to help him put it together too, he’s never done these types of kits before and they’d actually probably have a pretty fun date of it, painting it and putting it together. Shiro jokes that it was thoughtful of Munakata to buy him a whole airship and Munakata just tells him to be careful with this one, if it crashes Munakata isn’t sure if he could find a new one.
#Munashiro#Talking K#imagine them doing a little model kit together#Munakata would like that a lot I think#and Shiro would probably enjoy it too#and then he has a tiny Himmelreich that he can put in his classroom#no one knows it's a gift from his boyfriend

Heya! If you are doing requests then may I request Nagito x Junko's little sister reader? I think it'd be fun!
This sounds a lot like a series I started last month so I'll just continue with the same story line 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Third Enoshima | Yandere Nagito Komaeda
“What an honor! To be in the presence of such overwhelming hope!’
Before the killing game, you float around between the classes
Considering most if not all of your education was condensed into a single-person course
Somehow organized by your guardians
One of the many students you got to know was Nagito
The wide-eyed oddly degrading friend who seemed to put everyone on a pedestal
Especially you
His behavior reminds you far too often of your sisters
Only his obsession doesn’t even pretend to be platonic
“Oh my ultimate hope! Would you like to join me for lunch today? I happen to be graced with the perfect table for us to sit at!”
“This…just looks like a candle lit dinner.”
“My luck is is as unpredictable as ever.”
And always for his benefit
You don’t mind since your used to obsessive people your sisters
You do not condone the way he treats the honor students
Often scolding you when he interrupts you trying to hang out with them
“Not cool Nagito! You can’t just say that to people!”
“Forgive me for being so forward but would you put a deity on the level of maggots?”
When he’s finally effected by despair
It doesn’t get much better
On the command of Kamakura and Junko’s final message he’s one of your most adamant pursuers
“Oh (Y/n) the Seed of Despair! The silent flame of the fire that will bring despair to all! I will do right by Junko’s name and make sure you breed the Despair you were born to!”
It’s likely Munakata and the Hope Foundation uses you as bait to lure him
And he’s absolutely insane
Losing his composure at the mere sight of you
Drooling
Scratching at the glass and metal crate
Smooching his face against the class
Humping the glass
Granted it’s just a hologram because according to Munakata–”Filth doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near diamonds even if for the fate of the world.”
After his treatment though, it’s believed that you because you’re now closely affiliated with the Hope Foundation will never see or hear from him again
You quickly proved wrong when a secret message and video file pops up on your private tablet
“I’m wishing you the best with your new life, (Y/n). I know those days we used to know each other are long since past and you are happily settled with the Future foundation. But as I’m learning to value myself more I’m also paying heed to what I want and what my friends want–”
You immediately try to record
Pressing frantically as the button doesn’t seem to work
You go for your phone
“Don’t try to record this. It won’t actually compute the image on your screen. That being said I mean no harm, when I say we think you belong with us. We know how much pain we’ve brought the world. But I see no problem with preserving hope and if the Foundation can’t keep us away then they clearly aren’t the best fit for the job."
You get up, planning to run directly to Munakata
Only to find your tablet begin to overheat as the video message fizzles out
“My hope! My (Y/n)! We’ll be reunited soon. I can only count the minutes before we can spend our days together! Forever!”

something I’ve been thinking abt is how many people think Makoto is immune to despair. I don’t think he is. I think becoming the ultimate Hope was BECAUSE he felt despair. He wouldn’t have fully reached that point without Junko. Makoto becoming such a beacon was his last attempt to avoid completely falling and it wasn’t because he didn’t feel despair, it was because he was too damn stubborn to allow everything to go to waste and he refused to sacrifice his beliefs for someone else’s. His inner monologue tells me he DID experience the same new low the other suvivors did in the final trial, but at the point where he had the choice to give up and die, he looked at the others and he looked at Junko and he couldn’t allow it to happen, not out of self preservation, but because the idea that Junko would have control over their lives made him FURIOUS. and that utter refusal to die kicked in, wether luck or otherwise, and he made the concious effort for one last push while something in him was breaking. He had to be broken in order for the Ultimate Hope to come through so aggressively, bc it could only exist in the face of the Ultimate Despair. He snapped the same way she did, but in the other direction. In what could have been his final moments he chose to embody everything Junko wasn’t, and every single optimistic and luck fueled ideal in him suddenly charged forward and pushed him. It was a combination of the final straw and a choice. Makoto isn’t immune to feeling despair, he’s just too stubborn to fall into it of his own volition. I think that’s why I like that scene in DR3 so much. People were SO SHOCKED Makoto actually fell for the tape, that he actually became despair for a moment. I saw people getting mad or disappointed, saying it was pathetic and Makoto seemed to fall from some sort of pedestal for them. Honestly part of me wonders if that sort of mentality, which clearly people had in universe, affected Makoto a bit. Like he started to see himself as less of a person, subconsciously. Prompting him to take more risks, less self preservation, act way more bold. It seems he has to be reminded a lot not to put himself in danger by his friends, to not do something too reckless. All over the place I would see in regards to that scene either this frivolous ‘oh this was just angst drama with no meaning behind it’ or ‘he can do better than that. he’s so weak’ or ‘come on, there’s no way he’d fall into despair, he’s the Ultimate Hope!’ This kind of mentality, which was kind of ironic considering Ryota was there the entire time saying the same thing and treating Makoto the same way. Like Makoto was superhuman. Like Makoto didn’t feel despair the same way ‘normal people’ did. In a way that was also how Munakata saw Makoto. Makoto stopped being a PERSON to the world when he became Ultimate Hope, he became a concept, a belief system, much the same way Junko ascended beyond herself. But the difference is that treating Makoto that way is the opposite of the reason Makoto became such a representative for hope. He wasn’t doing something no one else could. He was doing something everyone had the chance to, he just… was a little more optimistic, a little more stubborn, a little more ‘gung-ho’ about things. He just took the lead where no one else did, where no one else knew they even COULD in the face of Junko’s unstoppable force. She had overcome the biggest threats and obstacles in the world, what could one person do? And the answer Makoto found was, anything. Everything. It doesn’t all rest on Makoto, he’s just the one that was inspired to try to do what seemed like the impossible. But as evidenced by the change in his friends after that trial, it’s clearly not something only Makoto is capable of. The others pulled out of despair thanks to Makoto, but it was their choice to do so.
“But… this world is so huge, and we’re so small. What can we do…? No, we can probably do anything. Yeah! We can do anything!”
#makoto naegi#Danganronpa character analysis#Danganronpa#danganronpa thh#danganronpa future arc#I fucking love Makoto Naegi man.#I think there’s a fine line of nuance to Makoto that’s easy to miss bc he doesn’t really make it known#he’s not a pushover and he’s not overpowered. he’s a people pleaser but he will say what needs to be said#he’s an immovable object and the exact opposite of Junko but he’s also just a normal guy who’s optimistic and (un)lucky#he isn’t invincible but he has immense power to his words the same way Junko did#if anything his superpower is being kind above all else. he’s compassionate to some of the worst people in the world.#he was even conpassionatr to an extent to Junko. he didnt want her to kill herself despite everything she’s done#and he still acknowledges that for years she was a classmate and friend.#I do think the more he learned abt what she did the more he’s come to actually hate her though#post the first game he always refers to her without a suffix to her name which is one of the most subtle rude things you can do#it means you have zero respect for the person you’re referring to#and he speaks about her with some venom he doesn’t use for anyone else in the future arc#he’s not incapable of feeling negative emotions#I really liked the future arc scene bc it showed that Makoto DID experience enough despair to have overcome him if he didn’t refuse#and that it still affects him deeply. people treat him like he’s either this perfect ideal Chad or this baby chick who’s so delicate#and no one really focuses on how makoto shoulders so much and yet is still vulnerable.#honestly that guy was DUE for a mental breakdown even without the tape. it would have happened eventually#I actually wrote one based on him finally hitting a breaking point after giving so much of himself away and keeping nothing for himself#that his issues that he shoves down constantly finally can’t be held down anymore. Hajime helps him bc he knows how that feels#it was a LONG time ago that I wrote that but honestly if I can remember where i was going w it I might finish it#it was initially an rp but I could make it a fic#anyway. the point is Makoto is SO much more complex than people give him credit for#the most fundamental thing about him is that he’s normal and that’s ok! that’s what helps him rise!

I love DR3 specifically for the future arc and only future arc cause my gooooodddd I've never hold onto Makoto's character tighter since DR1 and I MEAN IT.
There are a few thoughts I have and after that one post I reblog I HAVE to talk about it.
In DR1 I don't THINK he would make murder as something optional, considering the situation he was in, that would just be what Monokuma– what junko– wanted. Even if it comes to defending himself if he were to ever be the blackened's victim, he'd prolly just tried to see if there was a way to escape, or just punch his way out of it (the whole sayaka situation and all prolly does not sit right with him).
But that's it. He may not consider murder optional in DR1 but he won't hesitate to hurt when it comes to self-defense in the most devastating moment. He would, consider decking someone like Monokuma a few times but those are just the "food for thought" kinda thing for him. Not like he actually WOULD do it, rules or not, but he does think about it at least.
As for FF!Makoto– or DR3 Makoto, he was *outside* of Junko's confinement, he sees how the world became and *did* some things in order to gather all the remnants of despair. There is no doubt he would probably hurt– hurt, not kill– some people wearing the brainwash helmet. Cause again, these people aren't in their own will, and it's not their fault (though perhaps some were, while others would do so in their own will).
He doesn't have to take the option to kill during outside because there are lots of other options to take. He could ran away, he has a weapon, he has his friends with him.
But when trapped inside the FF building (doesn't that bring back good memories) there was NO other options that could make him avoid murder. There was nowhere left to run (he can't even run!!), he doesn't have a weapon, he was depended too much on his friends and risking his friends by slowing them down just for him.
And after Kirigiri died, and her last words flashes back to him in his dreadful, silent walk in the hallway to face Munakata, to "dont give up hope". There are lots of indication behind those words, and what led to Makoto in doing all those deadly traps. Kirigiri *trusted* him that he could move forward after her inevitable fate, his survival is *her* hope that she left, and she willingly die to keep him alive because she trusted him that he could and save the world even without her, she isn't wrong when she call him the ultimate Hope.
And how can he refused her dying wish?
Maybe, just maybe, that when he had his short breakdown afterward all alone in that hallway, not only that the fact Kirigiri just died had come back to slap him on the face that caused him to cry, but maybe, it's also because he *realizes* what he *has* to do in order to survive, in order to continue spreading hope, in order to keep Kirigiri's hope and everyone else's living.
That is keep on talking to Munakata, or trying to understand him in amidst of everything, will just won't get to him and led him to kill and hurt more others. Then Makoto has *no other choice* in order to stop him in the hard way.
He wouldn't like it. But progress won't be made if Munakata didn't stop this whole "trying to kill him and every despair" ordeal.
(I wonder, if by then, he mentally apologised to Chisa for unable to understand Munakata, despite all the tries, for letting her down, that he had failed. I wonder, when Chisa requested Makoto to try and understand Munakata, is that a small bit of what was left of her real self slipped out, or is it the despair that was talking, knowing fully well in using Makoto's "seeing everything good in everyone" nature to his own demise?)
I wouldn't doubt that it would get to him afterward, if he does succeed. Even if he does still capable of killing for his own survival when *extremely* necessary, doesn't mean that he doesn't despised it whole.

[Gakuen K] Fushimi Saruhiko Route Translation
As punishment for the other day
LIST OF CHAPTERS
[Translation under the cut]
Saya: (Munakata-senpai called me out…Probably it's because what happened in Extreme Tag game)
Saya: (Good thing the result was a tie between the Blue, Red and Silver clubs, but…)
Saya: (If the Blue club had been disqualified…)
Saya: Sorry for disturbing. It's Konohana Saya from the 2d grade.
Munakata: Please come in, it's open.
Saya: Sorry for being late.
Saya: (Fushimi-kun is already here)
Munakata: Don't be so nervous, please relax.
Munakata: …Today is an exceptionally nice day. Spring, with its budding cherry blossoms, is said to be the most cherished season of the people of this country since ancient times.
Munakata: Don't you think it is a crime to be so busy that you miss out on the beauty of this season?
Saya: Y-Yes…
Munakata: So in order to feel the spring air, I decided to do Nodate (outdoor tea ceremony) while admiring the cherry blossoms…
Munakata: Unfortunately, I'm out of matcha.
Munakata: As punishment for the other day, I would like you to buy it for me.
Saya: Is that all you want?
Munakata: Yes.
Fushimi: If that's what you want, I'll go alone--
Munakata: That's forbidden. Since both of you committed cheating, you will both be punished as well.
Fushimi: Tsk…Understood.
Munakata: Both of you, please get along with each other and go.
Food clerk: Thank you.
Saya: 10,000 yen for 30 grams… Matcha is pretty expensive.
Fushimi: That was the most expensive thing in the store.
Saya: I thought since it's a punishment he wouldn't tell us which matcha to buy…
Saya: I wonder if it was this simple.
Fushimi: President told us to buy it as a punishment. There's no doubt that this is the punishment.
Saya: I see…You're right.
Fushimi: …
Saya: …
Saya: (Conversation just broke off. Since we're out together, I'd like to talk to him more…)
Saya: (I want to get to know Fushimi-kun better, I'll talk to him casually!)
Choice: Are those glasses just for show? ❤
Saya: I've always wondered if Fushimi-kun's glasses just for show?
Fushimi: They're not for show. What are you asking me that for?
Saya: Some people wear black-rimmed glasses because they are fashionable, I wondered if Fushimi-kun might be one of them.
Saya: But I see, you have a prescription.
Saya: Come to think of it, Munakata-senpai also has glasses. I wonder if there are many people with bad eyesight in the Blue club…?
Fushimi: That's not true. It's just President, me, and Enomoto.
Saya: I see…I guess I kind of had the impression that there are a lot of people wearing glasses.
Saya: Maybe it's because there are so many smart people.
Saya: (I feel like we're talking normally, let's talk about something more)
Choice: What do you do on your days off?
Fushimi: Nothing special.
Saya: So you don't go out anywhere.
Fushimi: If I need something, I go out and buy it.
Saya: R-Right.
Fushimi: …
Saya: …
Saya: Well, then, has anything exciting happened to you lately?
Fushimi: Nothing.
Saya: I-I see…
Saya: (Maybe this question was a mistake…Let's try another topic)
Saya: Let's see…Do you have a favorite season, Fushimi-kun? Or what are you're currently into…?
Fushimi: Tsk… Is it that late already? Oi, let's hurry up. It's not good if we won't be able to get into the clubroom.
Saya: U-Uhm! Understood!
*Infront of the HQ*
Saya: (I'm glad we made it just in time…)
Saya: (I hope I can talk to Fushimi-kun more leisurely next time)

send me a fandom: k project
Send me a fandom and I’ll tell you:
The first character I first fell in love with:
I’m pretty sure I was automatically in love with Mikoto the very first time I watched the show. It was a long time, and several rewatches ago, so I’m not entirely sure, but I remember being really, really into Mikoto in my first watch of the show. I also remember being really into Munakata during one of my earliest watches too.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
It really wasn’t until I read the spin-off manga and stories that I got as into the side characters as I am now. Memory of Red really endeared all of HOMRA’s ABC boys to me and they’re now my favourite characters. I didn’t expect, during that first watch of the show, that those characters would continue to fuel my love for the fandom all the time, but here we are.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
Okay, I’m making this plain and very, very, VERY clear to avoid the hate – I still really like this character. This character is fun, they have fantastic moments in the show, they have interesting dynamics with the other characters. They are a great character and I like them. But I never was in love with them like almost everyone else I know of who is into K was or still is. I never fell for them, they were never one of my absolute favourites that I got obsessed with. I like them, but Yata just didn’t capture me like some of the other characters did.
The character I love that everyone else hates:
I don’t think any of the characters are really hated in the fandom. The K Project fandom is pretty small and from what I’ve seen of the fandom, most people are pretty cool and respectful of everyone’s favourites. But I will say that I do really love Kamamoto. He’s a fantastic character that I think a lot of the fandom are sleeping on and I wish he was included in a lot more in bigger ways.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer:
Guys, this is actually going to surprise a lot of people who know me. I used to absolutely adore Fushimi. Reading Small World made me feel for him and I felt it gave him a lot of depth. I used to really enjoy the character, thought a lot about him, developed a lot of headcanons, would enjoy trying to talk to other fans about him. However, the K Project fandom really is so very oversaturated with Fushimi, especially in pairings, and I just kind of burned out on him. I still find it a little hard to really get excited over him to this day.
The character I would totally smooch:
Fujishima, Eric, Bandou, Dewa, Munakata (though I don’t care as much about him, the man is still pretty hot), and Enomoto are the ones I can think of right off the top of my head!
The character I’d want to be like:
Though I hate how much the show oversexualized her, I’m such a huge fan of Seri. She’s such a strong, confident woman who really has climbed the ladder in an obviously male-dominated field. She balances that strong professional side with a more girly, feminine side on her downside, chases her goals, focuses on making herself happy and there’s just a whole lot about her that I find very admirable. She’s my favourite female among the whole cast and I really wish, in some ways, that I was more like her.
The character I’d slap:
Let’s be real here – with my bad temper and Chitose’s less than savoury qualities, I’d end up not just slapping but full force punching him at some point. I’m also pretty sure that, despite how much I liked Fushimi at some point, I would hit him real quick if I ever met him.
A pairing that I love:
I actually don’t mind the Kusanagi x Seri pairing. I don’t write it or think about it that often, it’s not something I seek out, but there have been cute fanart and fanfic for them that I’ve enjoyed and certain moments in the show and manga with them are really enjoyable and adorable.
A pairing that I despise:
It’s largely just because of the complete and utter oversaturation of it. This pairing is completely impossible to avoid in this fandom and it sometimes seems like it is all that some fans care about…of course, it’s the Yata/Fushimi pairing. I can theoretically get the appeal, but at the same time, I just can’t ship it. I love their friendship and the interactions between them in canon, but tend to view it more as a friendship.

[Gakuen K] Munakata Reisi Route: Test Results Translation
*Translator’s note : MC’s name shall remain as my normal (水嶋ラン) *Gakuen K Masterlist / Gakuen K Mobile Masterlist *Spoiler FREE : Translations under cut ! Reblogs appreciated~
Kukuri: It’s about time for the results to be posted out in the hallway.
Ran: Yeah. I’m really nervous…
Ran: (I’ll be kicked out of the club if I don’t get an average of at least 90 marks…)
Ran: (And today’s the day I know of my fate…)
Kukuri: I’m sure you’ll be fine! We’ve been cramming together, haven’t we?
Kukuri: Plus, those guys from the Blue Club really helped us out too, remember?
Ran: That’s true… I’m sure I’ll be fine.
Ran: (I barely made the cut when I did the mock tests, but I’ll just have to believe in myself!)
Ran: (I’ve already done my best.)
Kukuri: Oh! The results have been posted!
Ran: Come on, let’s go!
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Ran: Let’s see, where’s my name…?
Ran: (There it is!)
Ran: (Gotta get the average… Let’s see how much it sums up to…)
Kukuri: Your name’s up there. How’s the score?
Ran: I just did the math and it looks like my average is only 88…
Kukuri: What!? So close! Just a little more and you’d have hit the mark…
Ran: Yeah. It was already a little dubious whether I could make the mark or not when I tried the mock tests, but looks like it was a no-go after all.
Kukuri: I’m sorry that I couldn’t be of much help…
Ran: Don’t worry about it. In fact, I think I only managed to score this well thanks to you, Kukuri-chan!
Kukuri: Take some credit for yourself too… Hey, tell me if the Blue Club really kicks you out, alright?
Kukuri: I’ll try to convince Munakata-senpai otherwise. I’ll tell him all about how hard you’ve worked, and how you don’t deserve to be kicked out in light of it!
Ran: Thank you, Kukuri-chan… But it’s also undeniable that I’m clearly lacking in academic skills.
Ran: In any case, I should head to Club and inform them of the results.
Kukuri: I see… See you, and good luck! My prayers are with you!
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Ran: (I don’t want to have to quit the Club, so I’ll have to convince them that I really want to stay in the Blue Club.)
Ran: (I failed to meet the requirement so I don’t think what I say will make a difference anyway, but… even so, I have to try!)
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Ran: …Huh? No one’s here?
Ran: (I guess I should wait here for the time being.)
Ran: …
Ran: (If I truly get kicked out from the Club…)
Ran: (No, I should stop thinking about the what-ifs.)
Ran: (I should be honest about my feelings and tell them as such.)
Munakata: Oh, you’re early.
Ran: Ah, Munakata-senpai.
Munakata: You look rather glum. Did something happen?
Ran: There’s something I want to talk to you about…
▷Choice: I don't want to quit
Ran: Basically, I don’t want to quit this Club. Ran: And I didn’t manage to get an average of 90 during the tests. Ran: I know that was the condition for me to remain in this Club, so I’ll still be made to quit anyway, but… Ran: I still want to continue staying here. Ran: I’ve just started out here, and I was looking forward to learning more things.
▷Choice: Um… Well…
Ran: Um… Well… Munakata: Yes? Ran: (Of all times to be nervous, why now… But I have to tell him!) Ran: I didn't manage to get an average of 90 for the tests this time… Ran: But I don't want to have to quit the Club.
Munakata: Ah… Right, I do remember saying something along those lines before.
Munakata: Fret not. The Club doesn't actually have any rules regarding grades.
Ran: What!?
Munakata: And I have no intention of making anything of the sort. Although, it would be a tad concerning if you were barely passing.
Ran: Then, why did you…
Munakata: I suppose you can say that it was a test to see how determined you were to stay in the Blue Club.
Ran: Erm… So, does that mean I can stay?
Munakata: You worked hard and did your best, didn't you?
Munakata: I've heard a lot about the hard work you've put into studying for this test.
Munakata: You may not have attained the initial target, but I quite like that honesty of yours. So, I do hope you will continue to work hard as part of the Blue Club.
Ran: Got it! Thank you…
Munakata: I look forward to seeing how you grow from here on out.
Ran: (I was really taken aback by the fact that there had been no rules about grades at all, but I'm glad that I can still continue to remain here…)

Munakata: You know nothing, you're just a naive child who thinks the world can be saved by positivity.
Well that might work in your game, but not in the real world.
Makoto: chained on the ground Your pathetic.
Munakata: What did you say?!
Makoto: You laughs, glares at him you know nothing. You think that I don't know, that words aren't enough to change people?
You think that I don't know that positivity can't fix everything?
Munakata: Than why do you drone on and on about it? If you truly believe your words are hollow, than why pretend to be such a fool?
Makoto: God your stupid. What I said was that I know words aren't enough. But they're a start, their a step and a necessary one.
If anyone's the hypocrite, it's you, Mr rehabilitating murderers is wrong but I'm gonna kill people that don't agree with me.
Munakata: You little-
Makoto: No? You go on and on about how dangerous it would be if despair disguised itself under a flag of hope.
And yet here you stand like your own Remnant of despair.
Munakata: How dare you! Kicks him, hard
Makoto: laughs And you say I'm the child. How did you get such a high up job?
I mean you talk tough but you're just a washed up graduate who's clings onto his high school glory days.
Munakata: seething How dare you!
Makoto: Oh I dare. I think you got the job to work at the overseas Hope's Peak, because you're so desperate to reignite that spark because you've found nothing else fulfilling in your life.
And than the world fell but you got lucky, because finally everything was yours. You could be the big bad hero you always wanted to be.
Munakata: You call this a victory?
Makoto: For you? Other than being vice chairman and Chisa, sounds like your dream.
Munakata: Don't you dare speak her name!
Makoto: Yeah, my bad I'm sorry. You know, I was willing to hear you out for her.
I've lost people, know how hard greif is especially in a place like this. And she wanted me to hear you out, and I thought sure okay.
Munakata: That sounds like her.
Makoto: But man, I've looked into the eyes of those infected with despair.
And I've still found shreds of humanity in their souls, you are as soulless as it gets. And I watched Junko kill her own sister without a second thought.
Munakata: scoffs
Makoto: Junko twisted the Remnants from the people they were. The kind, good loving people they were.
But no one did that to you, you are your truest self. There was nothing to regain because nothing was lost.
Munakata: Is that your long poetic way of calling me a monster? How original.
Makoto: No you're worse. Hell at least Junko knew she was being awful. You say the most awful things and pretend it's just.
Munakata: The truth is always hard to digest. You should know that better than anyone. But you insist on hiding behind your hollow words.
Makoto: They aren't hollow. Sure I talk, a lot. But I make my words mean things, I fill what could have been hollow because I believe in the power they hold.
Munakata: You do have a lot of influence in your words. But that doesn't change that they won't fix things.
Makoto: I know it's not going to fix everything! But if they can get people to act, if they can change someone's opinion. That makes them mean something.
What you're proposing would destroy what's on the surface but change won't happen if you won't touch the root of the issue.
Munakata: And what of it? It will only spread. I do what has to be done. I use my words and I put them into action.
Makoto: The difference is I'm proposing people care about each other and you're trying to justify mass murder.
That's the difference between you and me, you take the easy route.
Munakata: Easy?! You dare call this easy?!
Makoto: Violence is easy, you can hurt anyone without raising a hand. You know what's hard? Healing.
Going day in and day out in a hopeless world trying to convince people life's worth living.
You watched the game... How many times did I try to bring people together? How many times did I try to talk to someone who would later be a murderer?
A tear falls down his cheek.
I will carry their deaths for the rest of my life. I will be kind in a world that hates that because someone has to.
I gave my weakness to everyone not because I don't know the danger but because I do.
Because I know if one person, just one comes forward it can persuade others to do so too.
Munakata: Scoffs What you've done is make yourself a bigger target.
Makoto: Gets up, got free ages ago and stands tall It's easy to kill the people who wronged you. What's hard is knowing all they've done, and forgiving them anyway.
I smile and it hurts more than anything and yet I do it because it makes people feel at ease. And if that's make me weak? Than so be it.
Munakata: So what, you'll forgive me for all of this?
Makoto: Yeah, because even now I think there's still hope in you.
Munakata: That kind of optimism will get you killed one day.
Makoto: It's gotten me this far. Sad smile And apart from my friends, it's all I've got anyway walks away, pauses And for what it's worth, I'm sorry for your loss. Walks away

Cipher Academy ch.58 thoughts
[Thank You For Playing]
(Contents: Reflection)
I think it's pretty clear from this chapter that Nisio had a lot of other storylines planned, though I'm not sure how much attention each one would have gotten
Toshusai's mission to round up the Gun Eyes, Yosaimura's mission to dredge up the Unsinkable Aircraft Carrier, and of course Iroha's mission to save the Battlefield Dancer, all could well have been their own story arcs, but it's also possible that all but the latter would have been background events. Regardless, Nisio is telegraphing that there was more story to tell, and that we'll need to fill in the blanks on our own at this point
In a certain sense, I appreciate that Nisio is showing me what could have been. Being given breadcrumbs even after the story's conclusion allows me to continue creating the story in my heart, even if the canon is beyond my reach now. To borrow Nisio's wording, it feels less like the story has ended and more like it's stopped
Endings usually come in one of two flavors - wrap-ups or "our journey continues," but this one kind of feels like both in a way. It's demonstrating how the previous storylines wrapped up, but while also showing what new journeys started since then and which were never completed. It's a bit more realistic in that way, as people's lives aren't stories that can be bound neatly in the narrative of a book
That said, this is still a story, and some elements do need to be presented neatly. With the story concluding with every class working as a unit, I think it's fair to say that my take that this was, at its core, a Friendship story was correct. I wonder if perhaps every first-year class was made to treat the other classes as enemies or rivals specifically to build up to the point where they would be allies later? It would make sense for a military academy to lean into basic team-building structure like that, as the stages go as follows: Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing. Every class is built from strangers, they're put at odds with each other to become acquainted, their dynamics normalize, and then they can operate efficiently with that familiarity. It makes sense for this to be repeated at every level, from intra- to inter-class relationships, and possibly even inter-school relations. In the end, I do wish that we could have spent more time exploring those relationships, as they were easily the most engaging part of this narrative
Oddly, the most reassuring thing about this ending was that it kind of gave me closure to a question I've had for over a decade now: was Medaka Box canceled? Based on this ending, I'm inclined to say no. There are so many parallels between these two endings - the timeskip, the where-are-they-now, the final shot of a group photo, the literal credits sequence. It was all so familiar that I recognized it pretty much immediately, but there was one key difference: while Medaka Box took us through the goings-on of the entire casts' lives, very little of it felt like story that could have drawn out the series' lifespan. I mean, sure, it could have, but none of it felt like it was meant to be story that we would have seen directly. It was everyone catching up and talking about what they've heard their friends have been up to, but with the exception of Munakata becoming an exorcist when ghosts or demons haven't been an established concept up to this point, all of it was just "oh, she's a baker now, he's a cop now, he's a politician now, she's a calligrapher now," etc. None of it was of any real consequence to the lives of the cast, it was just flavor text to reminisce on the events of the story and how far everyone has come
Here, I feel like we could have seen all of it and it would have been engaging. We're not just touching base with old friends here, we're waking up from a coma and learning that we missed all of the fun. It's such a vastly different feeling that I can't help but feel like this is how it would have felt if Medaka Box were canceled, therefore it most likely wasn't
I'm sure I could come up with more to wax poetic on with this series, but to be honest, I'm getting exhausted here. It's heartbreaking seeing one of my favorites get cut down like this, and as some of you may have heard, Martial Master Asumi has been canceled as well. I don't want to harp on this for much longer and make myself sadder, so I'll conclude on as positive a note as I can
I had a great time writing about this series. Being able to explore shonen tropes through Nisio's lens is always a delight and a bit of a trip, and getting the chance to share that experience with others was great fun. Iwasaki's art was fantastic, as evidenced by how many of these girls I absolutely fell in love with, and I'm glad I got to see so many parallels to Akira Akatsuki's style. I actually have to wonder if the styles of both series were directed by Nisio's vision or if perhaps Iwasaki is a fan of Akatsuki. Either way, this last year has given me the opportunity to relive my time with Medaka Box while also giving me something completely new at the same time. I'm so grateful that Nisio and Iwasaki at least got to make it this far, and I hope that we'll get to see both of them again in the near future
To everyone who read all 58 of my reviews for this series, thank you so much. To everyone who only read a few here and there, or even only read this one, thank you as well. I'm glad I got to spend time with you and I hope my little essays enriched your experience, even a little
Until next time

y'all are gonna turn me into a munakata apologist im so serious
I'm listening and interested
munakata is an exceptionally tragic character that i think had he been introduced earlier would be a lot more liked by the fandom.
munakata and makoto are essentially foils. munakata is incapable of seeing the remnants as people, bc he never saw them as class 77 he just saw the damage they did to society and to chisa.
and for makoto, he can't see class 77 as anything other than a stand in for class 78
makoto's biggest regret is always going to be that he couldn't save his own class. its why he so desperately tries to save the remnants. its his way of atoning for failing class 78
munakata and makoto are parallels bc they both failed the people they loved more than anything in the world, but their world views are so drastically different bc of their experience and bc of the ppl they lost

"K - RETURN OF KINGS" (Novel)
CHAPTER 9: NEKO'S DREAM (Part 1)
* List of Chapters
Translation: Naru-kun Raws: Ridia
Awashima Seri let out a deep breath as she leaned back on the couch in the living room.
Ever since they were defeated in the decisive battle of Mihashira Tower, Awashima barely took a break. There was a lot to do. Pick up the injured, transport them to the hospital, rearrange shifts to fill in the gaps, contact and inform relevant parties, track down the missing "Dresden Slate" and gather information, while conducting normal activities such as crime patrol, in order to minimize the members' agitation due to defeat. She couldn't show even the slightest hesitation.
"Phew."
Awashima let out another sigh and rubbed her eyes.
"Please rest for a while." If Akiyama hadn't negotiated with a serious expression, Awashima would have kept working. And then she should have collapsed. Not to mention the physical exhaustion, the mental exhaustion was reaching its limit. Awashima still suffered from losing, and there was one thing that worried her more than anything else.
This is the case of Munakata and Fushimi.
It seems that there was an argument between Munakata and Fushimi in the early morning of the 25th. Even if she regretted not being there at that time, now it wasn't a big deal.
The most shocking thing was the fact that Munakata had an argument with someone. What that "King" made was a theory or a statement, even if there was, it would have been an argument, and it was unimaginable that he would fight violently with someone.
No, thinking so, Awashima smiled while she still covered her eyes.
She has only seen Munakata get angry once. How many years ago was that? When Suoh had just become the "Red King". Munakata tried to persuade Suoh and for some reason it turned into a battle.
At that time, Awashima could do almost nothing. When she became a member of the "Scepter 4" clan, she learned the entire history of supernatural powers. Among them, the clash between the predecessor "Blue King" and the "Red King", which is said to be the worst, and the "Kagutsu Incident" at the end. The clash between Munakata and Suoh seemed like a repeat of that.
Even Suoh couldn't have ignored that story. Despite that, that man easily kicked Munakata away. What made Munakata angry was Suoh's irresponsibility.
However, Fushimi is not a "King".
Even as capable as he is, he is just a member of the clan. He is in no way equal to Munakata. It was unthinkable that Munakata would have a fight with him and finally drive him out.
Could that also be because of the injuries he received?
Then...
"What I can do?"
Her gaze moved slowly, and settled into a gothic-style coffee table near the couch.
Awashima's saber was leaning there.
(Reisi Munakata's right-hand man is you, not me.)
The man who once said that to Awashima cut to his own "King". As a result, he saved this country. Habari Jin expected that? A clan member who is most loyal to himself brings death upon himself. Was that the right path for her?
What about Munakata?
Wait, who will be by his side when she drops his "Sword of Damocles"? Could it really be her?
Is it possible for her to kill the Captain...?
"......!"
The doubts that had been suppressed until now spilled over, and Awashima frowned as if she was enduring the pain.
Despite being defeated, Munakata is still alive and well. The Clansman are also desperately searching for the whereabouts of the "Green King". There is still a chance to get the "Slate" back. They did not lose completely.
Still, the second hand of doom is definitely advancing.
When "that moment" comes, she must draw that saber. That was the role of Seri Awashima, the Vice-Captain of "Scepter 4", which she couldn't cede to anyone else.
Lying back on the sofa she tried to catch her breath.
She didn't want to think about it anymore. She remembered that Akiyama took it from her when she tried to remove her PDA from her chest. Because if she does, she'll have to work.
From there, her thoughts turned elsewhere.
No one was able to contact Fushimi. All incoming calls from "Scepter 4" were blocked and in the case of "Homura" it was no different. Contact lost and gone. They have no idea where and what he is doing these days.
One of the reasons she wants him to come back is that Fushimi's disappearance is the cause of half of that hustle. He is a capable man. When it comes to information processing, there's no one better than Fushimi, and there are mountains of jobs that can't be done without Fushimi.
And she on the other hand is just worried about Fushimi.
Fushimi is not a nice person, even by flattery. Rather, to put it bluntly, he has a bad personality. He's the type of person people hate, and Awashima didn't like him either.
Still, there is something about Fushimi that cannot be left alone.
He is sharp as a knife, but has a brittle side like glass. Despite being extremely talented, he is fatally bad at trusting others. Where and what is he doing now that he has jumped from "Scepter 4"? Thinking about it makes her feel uncomfortable. Hopefully he doesn't get desperate and get involved in weird things.
Just as she was thinking about it, there was a knock on the break room door.
"Fu, Vice-Captain! It's hard!"
Awashima sat down heavily. A lot of hard things have happened in the last few days. Just adding one more thing now won't change anything, the voice from the other side of the door pushed away a careless thought.
"The "Jungle" clansman, Douhan Hirasaka has escaped from prison! It is believed that the missing Saruhiko Fushimi guided her!"
++++++++++
Blade proof suit, tactical vest, heeled boots and combat gloves. Even when she got dressed and moved her body, there was nothing unnatural about it. The grenades, flashbangs, and shurikens that Fushimi always kept on hand were nowhere to be found in the cardboard box that Fushimi brought, but it couldn't be helped. Those clothes were just "trial items", and the ones in there were "dangerous goods". In any case, if she went back to the hideout, she could replace it.
Fushimi looked coldly into the rearview mirror as Hirasaka adjusted her equipment in the back seat. There was no light inside the van parked in the dark alley, and the only light was the unreliable interior lights.
While he pretended to manipulate a PDA, Hirasaka also watched Fushimi without letting her guard down.
In a way, that place was dead.
If one of them wanted to, a battle would break out in no time. Other than Fushimi, Hirasaka has no reason to keep him alive. If the freedom that was fortunately obtained was solidified, it would have been better to shut Fushimi's mouth there.
She wondered if she could.
She answered herself that she could do it. Dangerous goods have been seized across the board, but she's got a switchblade in her combat gloves. Make a hole and pick his throat. That would be enough.
"Do not think too much."
Leaning down from the driver's seat, Fushimi stabbed into the nail.
"I took the knife out of your glove. Right now you don't have anything you can stab or cut with."
Hirasaka tried to operate the glove. Shukon, a stupid sound resonated and the knife did not come out. Hirasaka shrugged as she gave him a cool look.
"You have quite a hobby going through women's clothing."
"I never thought of you as a woman, wall-breaker. I tell you, there's no use trying to escape. Next time, I'll sew your whole body to the back seat."
Before she knew it, a knife appeared in Fushimi's palm. When she thought about it, she remembered that this man was also a concealed weapon user.
"Alright."
Hirasaka raised both hands as if she was giving up.
"Cancel the plan to kill the enemy. It's impossible. So what do you want from me?"
Fushimi snorted and waved his hand, and the knife disappeared like a magic trick. Then, he said...
"I'm going to be a ranker. Help me with that."
As expected, she was surprised.
But once she got past the initial shock, a thought came to her: "That must be so.". Fushimi's actions were clearly a rebellion against "Scepter 4". In that case, Fushimi should have given up on the Blue Clan, so it was only natural for him to run to "Jungle".
Hirasaka said...
"If it's the second time, is betrayal something you're good at? Even I frown."
"Don't lie, you say it's wrong because it's against morality. Your parents seem to have seen through your true nature."
Of course, Douhan was not a name given to her by her parents.
But that didn't matter. Hirasaka asked.
"What are my benefits?"
"I got you out of jail."
"Do you want me to return the favor? Unfortunately, I don't remember turning into a crane."
"I know, you can't follow me without millet dumplings."
Saying that, Fushimi blurted out something.
She received it reflexively. Of course, it was not a millet dumpling. It was a wad of rubber-bound bills. 500,000, guessed by touch.
"Is it a deposit?"
"If the mission is successful, I will give you the same reward. In return, all the points earned are mine."
Hirasaka thought fast.
Exchanging points for cash violates the "Jungle" rules. However, there are loopholes in any rule, and even though two people completed the quest, there are often situations where only one person gets points. You can help one without accepting the quest. So if the other checks it with cash, he is effectively buying points with money.
A million per mission, not a bad amount. However, drinking only in "not bad" conditions would not be a business.
"A million, regardless of the difficulty of the mission. That's not worth it."
Fushimi responded flatly.
"I will generate incentives based on the difficulty level. When I rank up, it will come with a bonus."
1,000,000 is the minimum guaranteed amount and the incentive is negotiable. It was perfect, or rather, it was definitely a delightful piece of work. Hirasaka thought for a few seconds and decided that there was no point in throwing it any further. Instead of sticking around and getting concessions, it will be more profitable to stay in a short and long relationship.
"Alright."
Facing Hirasaka, who briefly agreed, Fushimi nodded and started the engine.
Hirasaka asked while she was a bit surprised.
"No way, from now on?"
"What do you think of that 500,000? I already sent you the mission details. It's an easy job, so there's no incentive."
Saying that, Fushimi started the van.
Inside the trembling car, Hirasaka pressed the switch on her neck. A full-face tactical mask covered her head. A glowing green HUD appeared in front of her and various information was projected onto her retina.
"Work.", she murmured into her mask.
Hirasaka is a professional. There is a precise calculation formula behind the action, and it is not moved by emotions.
Still, this situation brought a kind of excitement to Hirasaka. She could work. It was the only thing in her empty life that gave Hirasaka a feeling similar to joy.
Feeling the electricity of "Jungle" running through her body, Hirasaka slowly began to read the details of the mission.
++++++++++
Neko was gone.
After the "Decisive Battle at Mihashira Tower" ended that day, and after she disappeared due to recognition tampering, she never appeared again. It was the same when he returned to School Island, and no matter how many times he called her, never got a single answer.
"Where did she go? No way..."
Shiro smiled and shook his head at Kuro who frowned in concern.
"No. Neko is close, because this island is her home."
Although there was no wind, he felt the rustling of the leaves and the branches of the trees. Neko was close. She was probably close enough to hear their voices.
"Then why doesn't she appear in front of us?"
At Kuro's question, Shiro made a slightly sad face.
"...I wonder if she is afraid of us."
Emotions are everything to her. Anger, sadness, joy and fear. Get closer to comfort and move away from fear. That's how she lived her whole life.
Not long ago, her peace was with Shiro.
It was different now.
Shiro has become an object of fear for her. That's because Shiro has realized the root of Neko's fear.
What Neko fears the most is "Ameno Miyabi".
Her real name. The real me of her. She is terrified of who she really is.
Not that Neko understands why she's afraid of him. Of course, Shiro doesn't know either. If Neko herself doesn't understand how she ended up in that state, no one can.
But at that moment, the image of a scared, trembling and cowering Neko broke his heart.
Shiro looked away from Kuro and slowly looked around him. Somewhere in that field of vision, Neko could be. Maybe not. Using the power of the "King", it is easy to remove the disguise from her. But doing so would not solve anything.
Instead, Shiro raised his voice.
"You should go to Kukuri. She's not scary, right? So, when you've calmed down, can you come back? I want to talk to you, Neko."
There was no answer. The trees were quiet. Kuro lowered his eyes pitifully.
Still, Shiro muttered under his breath.
"...I'll be waiting."
Then he walked away. To the student dormitory, to the place where Shiro was, to the place where Kuro and Neko should return.
++++++++++
"Eeeh?!"
The reason she unintentionally let out a voice was because there was someone in her room, which should have been empty. A student dormitory where the students of Gakuenjima live. After classes were over for the day, Yukizome Kukuri found that "lump" when she returned home humming.
The lump was in her bed. She was using a futon. She knows that she is a person, but she doesn't know who she is. As far as Kukuri knows, however, there is only one person who would likely do such a thing.
That is to say...
"...Wagahai-chan? What are you doing?"
The "lump" collapsed. From the mouth of the futon, from the dark shadow, only a glimpse of blue eyes peeked out.
"...Alright."
"Eh?"
"I'm Neko."
Her voice was tinged with tears.
With a small sigh, Kukuri put her school bag on the ground. As she sat on the bed, the ''lump'' began to move. Kukuri asked kindly.
"Did you fight with Kuro-kun?"
The "lump" moved again. She shook her head. Kukuri continued, placing her palm along the back of the futon.
"So, Shiro-kun?"
She moved a little more this time. She denied it even more than before. Knowing it wasn't a fight between the two of them, Kukuri let her gaze wander through the air.
"Well, then..."
Saying that, Kukuri remembered that she didn't know anything else about Neko.
Both Kuro and Neko live in a different world than Kukuri. The two are not students at the school, but for some reason they are mysterious beings who have settled on that island. Recently, a boy named Isana Yashiro joined them. She knew they weren't ordinary people, but Kukuri didn't quite understand who they were.
When she was searching for the words, the "lump" came to her.
"It's frightening."
"Eh?"
Wide-eyed, Kukuri asked the futon.
"What are you afraid of?"
"......"
The futon moved. as if trembling After a brief silence, she heard a muffled voice.
"Ameno Miyabi."
She had no idea what she was talking about.
"Hmm, I see..."
Kukuri crossed her arms and thought deeply. It's like asking a baby. She didn't understand what Neko meant. She has no way of expressing what she wants to say. Or maybe she doesn't want to say it in the first place. The only way to fill in the missing information is by marking each one.
"Why are you afraid of that?"
After a while, Kukuri asked.
"There is a door."
A door. Is it some kind of metaphor? Kukuri blinked and waited patiently for the word of the ''lump''.
"I hear a voice coming from the door. It's calling me. Her name is Ameno Miyabi..."
Kukuri took a deep breath.
She calling her. Does that mean "Ameno Miyabi" is Neko?
As if she read Kukuri's thoughts, the ''lump'' moved violently.
"No! Wagahai is a cat! It's not like that!"
Neko is an emotional girl. Jumping, crying and laughing, she has seen that kind of thing many times.
However, it was the first time she had seen Neko deny something so desperately.
A conflict was born within Kukuri. She doesn't know much about Neko. She might be safe to say that she doesn't know anything. And yet, is it okay to say something to Neko now? Surely Neko is afraid of a fundamental "something". Also, is she okay if she carelessly touches her?
No.
It is neither good nor bad.
She wanted to do it.
This innocent girl is scared to the point of death. She wrapped in a futon and snuggled up. If so, she would love to help her. Those were Kukuri's true feelings.
"Well, the door is..."
As if groping, Kukuri twisted the words.
"Isn't it possible to throw it somewhere? How about we throw it in the sea or in the mountains?"
Neko shook her head at the trivial idea.
"Impossible..."
"Well, what about opening it? If you try to open it unexpectedly, you might wonder what it is."
Once again, Neko denied.
"No..."
Laughing softly, Kukuri patted Neko's back.
"I see. That's true. You can't open scary things by yourself. Fine, then…"
Kukuri said what came to her mind.
"What if you're with someone?"
"......"
"Kuro-kun or Shiro-kun. If it's those two, can you open it together? That way, it's much less scary than opening it yourself."
The "lump" didn't even move.
Just when she was wondering if she said something wrong, Neko whispered.
"You can stay?"
"Eh?"
"Even if I'm not a cat, will Shiro and Kuro still be together?"
She wished could tell her that it's normal.
But saying that, Kukuri was not irresponsible, nor was she familiar with those two. She doesn't know what kind of people Yatogami Kuro and Isana Yashiro really are.
That's why Kukuri said...
"What do you think, Wagahai-chan? So, do you think those two will break up?"
After a short pause, the "lump" began to move.
Seeing that, Kukuri smiled.
"I see. Good for you."
"......"
The mouth of the futon, from the shadow inside, peered out blue and gold eyes. When she blinked once and opened her eyelids, the tears had already disappeared.
++++++++++
She heard a voice.
From inside the closet. through the door. The voice kept calling her name.
"Ameno Miyabi."
The owner of that voice was not alone.
An old man's voice yelled as if he was crazy.
The voices of a man and a woman cursing the monster and asking it to return the child.
The voice of a young man, intelligent and cold.
But they were all different. She knew it wasn't true.
"Ameno Miyabi."
Actually, it's her voice.
Wagahai's voice. Her voice.
She was the one who made the door and pushed everything through it. She forgot about it. After all, Wagahai is a cat. Cats do not think about anything, do not remember, do not worry, they just need to sleep comfortably in a safe place. Because that's all she wanted, she turned into a cat.
Even though that was all she wanted.
"Ameno Miyabi."
She heard a voice on the other side of the door. She heard her own voice. "Ameno Miyabi" is called "Ameno Miyabi". She was calling Wagahai.
Maybe she could open the door, because she was the one who closed it. Cancel recognition manipulation ability. It's easy because she's done it before with Shiro.
But then she doesn't know what will happen.
What would those two say if she was selfish? Will they accept her as she is?
Or like those people, will they fear her and turn away from her?
If that happens, she is certain that she will never be able to find peace again.
That's the only thing Neko was afraid of.
"Oh."
Her heart jumped a lot, and Neko reflexively jumped high.
With wide blue and gold eyes, she Neko saw him.
On the bedroom ceiling. A green parrot perched on a windswept water tower.
The entire body is covered with hair. A real cat would have curled her fat tail. Fear and chill numbed Neko's judgment.
Suddenly, the parrot spread its wings and screamed.
"Whoa! Stupid cat, scared, scared!"
Her face turned red. Anger overcame fear and Neko threatened Kotosaka with her entire body.
"There's no such thing as scary! Stupid!"
"Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah!"
Kotosaka laughed triumphantly, and Neko shifted into a battle stance. Just when she thought she was going to catch him, rip off his wings, and dunk him in the sauce, Kotosaka's demeanor changed in an instant.
"Please stop, Kotosaka. I came looking for her today. Don't make her angry."
"Whoah!"
After a sharp cry, Kotosaka fell silent. Sensing a touch of intelligence behind his camera gaze, Neko braced herself.
"Eh?"
Of course, Neko knows the names of the others. Even so, the reason she asked was to delay the main topic, even if it was a bit.
The parrot nodded and answered.
"Right. It's my first time speaking like this, so let me introduce myself again. My name is Hisui Nagare. I am the "Green King". What is your name?"
A name. It's nothing, it was accompanied by the pain of spitting fire.
"Wagahai... I'm Neko..."
"Oh, really?"
Neko froze at the question which he immediately returned to.
"Is your name really Neko? No, that's not the right question. Do you really think your name is Neko?"
"......"
"In that case, I'll teach you. Your name is Ameno Miyabi. The only daughter of Ameno Taichi and Ameno Hinako, who lived on 1-3-21 Higashi Naebara, Naebara City, Kanagawa Prefecture."
Neko certainly remembered the feeling of something entwined under her feet.
"14 years ago. You were 2 years old at the time and miraculously survived the Kagutsu Incident in southern Kanto. Perhaps your super power was awakened at that time."
That grabbed a leg like it was mud, crawled like an ivy and tried to bind Neko's body. She was afraid and wanted to run away, but she couldn't move her body.
Neko knew what that was. The true nature of what she herself had confined and bound.
It's called "past."
"You lost your parents and used your cognitive manipulation to survive. Even so, you were still young, so maybe it was instinctive. You manipulated the perceptions of a couple, and underneath them..."
"Stop."
Neko said that to Nagare, who was talking about her own "past" with a machine voice that spoke clearly of the record nonchalantly.
Surprisingly, Nagare suddenly stopped speaking. Kotosaka tilted his head curiously.
"You really don't remember. I get it. Apparently, you can even manipulate your own perception."
"I don't know, Wagahai is like that..."
"Of course. You've even sealed the memory of sealing your memory. It's natural that you don't know. I also didn't come here to talk about the past. My origin is in the past, but I always look to the future."
Then Kotosaka spread his wings.
As if he extended.
"I came looking for you. Ameno Miyabi, or simply Neko. We are compatriots."
Neko blinked slowly, looked at Nagare and asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Let's put it another way. We are comrades."
At those words, Neko violently shook her head. She looked up with her blue and gold eyes like a kitten cowering in fear and threatening her enemies.
"No. I'm not your friend. You bully Kuro and Shiro! I hate those kind of people!"
"You don't like people bullying those two. Is it because they're your friends?"
"That's right! Shiro and Kuro are Wagahai's friends!"
"Even if they know your true identity, will those two still be your friends?"
Like an awl, Nagare's voice accurately pierced Neko's weak and soft parts.
"Ameno Miyabi. Or Neko. That's what you fear the most. Fearing your true identity would be known, you kept your true identity away from yourself. It must have been painful to be called a monster by those you believed in. I feel sorry for you."
Her chest ached as if she had been stabbed. Breathing became rapid and shallow. Not knowing why that happened, Neko's face twisted in pain and fear.
"Is there any guarantee that those two won't do that? Any guarantee that they won't run away from you after finding out who you really are?"
Yes. That was terrifying.
She was sure that she would be fine. That's what she wanted to believe. It was easy and logical to think so. Shiro forgave Neko. She gave him a fake personality and memories, manipulated him conveniently, even so, Shiro told her that she could stay by his side.
But, now, if that didn't happen...
Just thinking about it made her body shudder. Even if she knows it's impossible, it's like there's a physical obstacle and her thoughts stop moving forward.
As if he huddled against Neko's fear, Nagare whispered softly.
"I would not do that."
Neko looked at Nagare.
"Because I already know your true identity. How did you do that? Why did you do that? Because I know more than you do."
"......"
"Neko. Or Ameno Miyabi. We are compatriots. We are friends. If you are a monster, I am a ghost. I died because of that incident, and then I was reborn because of that incident."
Monster. The words that once drove her to loneliness strangely no longer scared Neko.
That's probably because Nagare is telling the truth. It's not because he's blaming himself or cursing, but because he believes he's a true partner.
"But I deny my own words. I am not a ghost, I am a human. You are not a monster either, you are a human. To survive, to pave the way, we will use all the power we have. If that is not human, then all the humans in this world would be inhuman."
With his intellectual tone intact, Nagare's words took on a tinge of warmth. It's as if he was silently revealing his hidden feelings that he had been thinking about for a long time.
Neko muttered in a weak voice.
"I am a cat..."
"Yes. You can also be a cat. That's what it means to be human. It doesn't matter if there is someone who will become the "King". It's okay to have humans turn into cats. It's okay to have a parrot to be your friend. That's the kind of world I'm aiming for."
At those words, Neko's eyes widened.
The first thing that came to her mind was a warm world. No one would harass Neko there. They would not throw stones at her or call her a monster. Because there is a world where everyone has turned into a monster. Manipulate people's memories, spit flames, and fly freely. In a world where everyone is like this, Wagahai, she could still be a cat.

i feel like it gets glazed over in a lot of the fandom etc but the main 3 of homra are genuinely so well written imo
rewatching r:b makes me think abt how mikoto is geniunely emotionally smart the way he read yamata and his view on fushimi, then again with totsuka i just the way hes written and how you can see the different sides of him
idk i just thought it needed appreciation
To be honest when I first watched K I didn’t like Mikoto very much, I thought he was hard to read and just didn’t have a lot of interest in him. The side materials really helped though, I agree that he’s actually written very well as a character. I like that he’s such a contrast to Munakata, where Munakata saw being King as answering a question for Mikoto it was like equal parts blessing and curse — it both allowed him to protect the people he cares about and gave him a group of people who he wants to protect, but at the same time this power always puts them in danger and Mikoto has to dull himself to keep from losing control. He’s very focused on living freely and doing as he pleases, but it’s not like he’s unaware of the consequences either. One of the things I really like about the King and the Traitor short story (besides, like, all of it) is how when Fushimi berates him for being selfish Mikoto is just like ‘yup,’ like he kinda wanted someone to say that to him and he actually appreciated Fushimi being honest. And in general Mikoto caring about people — especially Fushimi — while looking like he doesn’t is great, in both the aforementioned short story and in LSW when he shows up after Hisui is defeated, I think it’s very clear to literally everyone but Fushimi that Mikoto cares about his well being. Mikoto puts on an image like this violent barbarian but he’s clearly very perceptive in his own way and does understand his people.
Totsuka I think tends to get flattened down by fandom some and it’s a shame because I love the duality of Totsuka. Like on the one hand he’s a tragic cinnamon roll who dies to start the story rolling, but he’s also someone with his own selfishness and flaws and he’s keenly aware of both how other people see him and his own feelings. He’s internalized the idea of himself as someone who ‘doesn’t hold onto anything’ and thinks that seeing Mikoto be King is the only thing he truly wants, and seems to treat it flippantly when Anna says he’ll die if he stays near Mikoto — but when he’s actually dying he regrets, and he’s upset, because he did truly want to stay with everyone. He can switch between being friends with everyone in Homra on equal footing and ‘seeming like he’s watching over them,’ he clearly tries to get Fushimi and Yata to understand each other and make up but he’s also very aware when he’s pushing Fushimi’s buttons and keeps doing it anyway. He can be friends with everyone but also cruel when he wants to be, and he thinks of himself as selfish because he wants Mikoto to be King more than Mikoto himself wants it. My favorite part of Totsuka is that he could have been this perfect innocent angel martyr but he’s actually a much more complex and interesting character than that.
And of course poor Kusanagi, with his dead friends. Honestly if there’s one complaint I have with the writing for the Homra trio it’s probably in Kusanagi, because he’s great but I don’t think the series follows through with him enough. I’ve complained before about Circle Vision giving the dreams to the wrong people, Homra’s dream should have 100% been Kusanagi’s and taken time to explore his grief, because I feel like the show at large glosses over it. Like that whole movie was everyone else being like ‘yeah so this is a dream’ and basically everyone except Sukuna and Kusanagi accept that. Kusanagi would normally be one to immediately notice it though, it’s just he clearly doesn’t want to because he wants his friends back. I love that Mikoto and Totsuka stay behind with him a bit and drink with him but I really wanted more of that, justice for Kusanagi. I like everything that they do with him before that, especially in Side Red where we get the first hints of it with Kusanagi and Shiotsu talking about ‘when your King crumbles what will you do.’ I think Kusanagi in particular has the hardest role in the trio, because Mikoto’s accepted he’ll likely die eventually due to being a King and I think Totsuka’s always assumed he’d die first, while Kusanagi is the one who really has to accept that he’s going to be the one to survive.
#k project#Talking K#I'm a S4 girl at heart but yes let' appreciate the Homra trio too#I do wish we'd gotten more follow through on Kusanagi tho#Totsuka I love that he's a cinnamon roll but also a little shit#I don't care for how he sometimes gets mischaracterized as too pure for this world damsel or whatever#he's precious but also terrible and that's why he's great#Mikoto also having so much more going on than grunting and being violent#well that's how Munakata sees him XD

Is there any rhyme or reason to how the deaths are portrayed in the Future Arc opening? I have theories.
Kyoko being hung seems like a reference to her leaning into her NG code. Most hangings aren't voluntary and her "death" wasn't either. She did choose Makoto over herself. Why all the extra blood though? ALSO YOUR BLOOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE PURPLE.
Asahina's stab to the belly is foreshadowing Monaca's trick. It wants you to believe it's real. That one is easy.
Sonosuke dies by NG Code in a betrayal to Ruruka. He appears to be getting set on fire in the opening. I've seen speculation to this referencing Jesus's and Joan of Arc's martyrdoms. This one is tenuous other than being crucified on a giant metal cross because, blacksmith.
Seiko is impaled by a lot of hypodermic needles. She's the Ultimate Pharmacist. Moving on.
Sakakura is cut in half and there isn't any blood. Really clear: he's being killed by Munakata's katana. Less clear: maybe there's some foreshadowing to his impending amputation.
Tengan is wrapped up in wiring and appears to be getting electrocuted. I dunno Mr. Mastermind, is that a hint that you're pulling Monokuma's strings? I doubt it.
Ruruka is frozen and shattered to pieces. She's kind of a complicated character and she ends up choosing her own life over those of her best friend and the person she loves. She dies trying to convince herself that she's going to be fine and that it's going to be easy to replace what she has lost. The poet in me wants to make some connections to the coldness of her actions or how she has to break herself by the end of the game, but it could equally just be random.
Bandai appears to be covered in blood, though my first instinct was it's actually indicating blood poisoning because he's the first one to go out via NG Code. I really do think that's what it was aiming for.
Gekkogahara is cut in half vertically. There is no blood and she appears to be hollow. I've always assumed this is to foreshadow that Monaca is posing as her.
Yasuhiro is wrapped in thorny vines. He's an interesting inclusion because he's the only one that doesn't actually participate in Monokuma Hunter despite being included in the opener.
Chisa looks like her wrist is cut and there are boxcutters in the background. Obviously this indicates her suicide and it isn't surprising as the dark realization of DR3 is that she was lost a long time before anybody ever knew she was. The interesting thing is that her blood looks like it's coming from the bangle, which could be because her actions aren't really her fault.
Gozu is wrapped in chains. I think this is meant to invoke his actual death, despite it being chains instead of cables.
Mitarai is impaled by arrows. He survives the series, so this one is curious. The only reference to arrows through the rest of Danganronpa is in Mukuro's trial in Trigger Happy Havoc. Byakuya speculates that they were tied together with duct tape and used as a blunt object to knock her out. I've seen it posed that this is a reference to Tengan's chuusen and shows that he's being targeted. I heavily doubt it.
Koichi is wrapped up at his wrists, thighs, and ankles. A bandage is covering his eyes and mouth. He sacrifices himself to save Kyoko by triggering his NG Code. It seems like his hat, tie, shoes, and flask are bagged up. I like to think that's because Kyoko is present for his death, as she would be the only one focused on preserving evidence.
Last off we get Munakata and Makoto shooting themselves in the head. They're paired because they represent the directions the Future Foundation can go and their suicides are an obvious clue to the true nature of the killer in Monokuma Hunter.

GAKUEN K -WONDERFUL SCHOOL DAYS-
Fushimi Saruhiko route
Event 07
Finally I have a free time since my personal project is over (for now)
Konohana Saya: (A call from Munakata-senpai. Maybe it's about things from the extreme tag)
Konohana Saya: (I'm glad the results for blue club, red club and silver club were draw)
Konohana Saya: (If blue club was going to lose, then...)
Konohana Saya: "Excuse me. I'm Konohana from second year."
Munakata Reishi: "Go ahead. It's open, so please come in."
Konohana Saya: "I'm sorry for being late."
Konohana Saya: (Fushimi-kun is already here...)
Munakata Reishi: "Don't be nervous, just relax."
Munakata Reishi: "Today is such a special weather. Spring is the season for cherry blossoms to bud, it was also been said from the ancient time that it's the most cherished season for the people in this country."
Munakata Reishi: "Don't you think it's a sin that we missed this season's beauty because we're too occupied with our works?"
Konohana Saya: "Y-Yeah..."
Munakata Reishi: "Therefore, to feel the spring air, I'm thinking of doing an open-air tea ceremony while viewing the cherry blossoms..."
Munakata Reishi: "Unfortunately, I'm running out the Matcha."
Munakata Reishi: "As a punishment from a few days ago, I want both of you to buy it for me."
Konohana Saya: "Is that, all you need?"
Munakata Reishi: "Yes."
Fushimi Saruhiko: "If that's all you need, I can go alone—"
Munakata Reishi: "You cannot. Because it's a wrongdoing that were made by you two, so the punishment should be taken by both of you too."
Fushimi Saruhiko: "Tch... understood."
Munakata Reishi: "Please go, and I hope you two are getting along together."
*on the way*
Shop assistant: "Thank you for coming."
Konohana Saya: "30grams 10.000 yen. Matcha is fairly expensive."
Fushimi Saruhiko: "It was the most expensive item among the things in the shop."
Konohana Saya: "I thought because this is a punishment, he won't tell us which matcha that we should buy..."
Konohana Saya: "Is it okay if it's this simple?"
Fushimi Saruhiko: "The captain told us to buy it as a punishment. There's no doubt this is a punishment."
Konohana Saya: "I see... you're right."
Fushimi Saruhiko: "........"
Konohana Saya: "......."
Konohana Saya: (The conversation is breaking off. Since we're going out together, I want to talk more...)
Konohana Saya: (I want to know better about Fushimi-kun. Let's talk to him nonchalantly!)
-Your glasses, is it fake? (★)
-What do you do on your day off?
Konohana Saya: "I've always been curious before, Fushimi-kun's glasses, is it fake?"
Fushimi Saruhiko: "It's not fake. Why are you asking that?"
Konohana Saya: "Because there's a person who used black-framed glasses as a fashion, so I thought Fushimi-kun's is the same."
Konohana Saya: "I see, so it has glasses prescription."
Konohana Saya: "By the way, Munakata-senpai is wearing glasses too. Are there many people with poor eyesight in a blue club?"
Fushimi Saruhiko: "No, it's not. It's just captain, me, and Enomoto."
Konohana Saya: "Ah, I see... for some reason I feel like it's because it has an image about a lot of people wearing glasses."
Konohana Saya: "Maybe it's because there's a lot of smart people."
Konohana Saya: (Somewhat I can talk to him normally...! Let's broach the subject a bit)
Konohana Saya: "Umm... Fushimi-kun, do you have a favourite season? Or maybe a current obsession?"
Fushimi Saruhiko: "Tch... it's already late. Oi, let's hurry up a bit. It would be bad if we couldn't get in to the club."
Konohana Saya: "Y-Yeah! Okay!"
*Blue club*
Konohana Saya: (Thank goodness we've made it)
Konohana Saya: (I hope next time I have a time to talk with Fushimi-kun more slowly)

i think people go through dr and forget like. the setting. the whole point is that - and this is mainly trigger happy havoc - its a bunch of high schoolers in an extremely fucked up situation. NONE OF THEM are meant to be killing people or holding trials or any of this and i think people like. expect more out of them. when it comes to the other games i guess i kind of get it? especially since the cast of goodbye despair just felt a lot older since i guess they were. but especially trigger happy havoc its so much more crushing if you acknowledge that none of them are used to it. which is why characters like makoto are overlooked because he doesnt seem as cool or mysterious as the other characters and the fact that he's trying to be a source of positivity for other people isnt enough for some people. again its been years but i will never stop being upset over makoto's treatment in fandom.
also on despair makoto. this is very fast but i think he's a cool concept when taken the right way. from what i recall he wasn't meant to be super cool he was in like. extreme distress. and thats so much more crushing than the concept of just "hey you see this nice guy? yeah he's evil now isn't that cool" like. good god this is making my interest come back. hang on
It's definitely because of the sequels, i think; the tone from sdr2 on is SO different. There's still the pretext of these people being brought into a horrible massacre framed as a game, but like. the outlandish humor that dr1 juxtaposes with the suffocating psychological horror of being isolated from the outside world with only total strangers just as desperate as you to get out to be with is just. thrown SO off balance with the changes to setting and stuff, trying to one-up dr1 with more elaborate set pieces and character backstories. it's all made to be far less down to earth as a result. and thus the characters that are more "normal" are looked down upon for not having 50 layers of depth to their motives, or being perfect in their reasoning for doing the things they do, or the writing not being as... idk if i wanna use the word great actually. we'll go with "intense". it's so much to think about and i cant get all of it out but yknow. You Know.
and Despair Makoto i love talking about him. facts of me. he IS such a cool concept, and i adore how they handle the concept tbh. i still think it would have been fun to see this guy be just so fucked in the head for a little while but that's all self indulgence. it outright debunks munakata's arguments of all these people in despair being evil villains and just showing someone suffering from it. being brought down to such a low point that he's willing to die with a smile. it's horrifying, and so fucking. ufghaguh......... im so happy they didnt shove in Evil Makoto i think we would be in so much worse a world if that happened.
#makotalk#localvoidcat#danganronpa#makoto naegi#evilest grin on my face when i read that ur interest is coming back. My Trick.#this response is such a mess btw but hopefully you get it. no need to understand but just to think with me.

[Gakuen K] Munakata Reisi Route Translation
Fireworks festival
LIST OF CHAPTERS
[Translation under the cut]
Saya: Ah, a phone call. Who could it be…?
Saya: Munakata-senpai!?
Munakata: Hello. Is it okay that I'm calling you at this hour?
Saya: Yeah. It's okay.
Munakata: I would like to have some of your time this evening, are you free?
Saya: Evening? Yes, I am free. Is something happened?
Munakata: We are going to a fireworks festival, so get ready.
Saya: Ehh!?
Munakata: Well then, I'll pick you up in 20 minutes.
Saya: U-Understood.
Saya: (This suddenness took me by surprise…)
Saya: (But thinking about it, I remember the printout of club activities for the summer vacation said something about a fireworks festival)
Saya: (I guess that means it's part of the club activities. Anyway, let's hurry up and get ready!)
Saya: (I thought it was a good occasion to come wearing a yukata, but I hope it was all right)
Munakata: Ah, Munakata-senpai! Sorry to keep you waiting!
Saya: (Senpai is also in a yukata…He looks different and more mature than usual)
Munakata: Good evening. I'm glad you came.
Saya: Huh… The others haven't come yet?
Munakata: The others? It's just the two of us.
Saya: Eh? Aren't we doing club activities today?
Munakata: No. It's completely private.
Munakata: Now, let's take a ride on this.
Saya: Eh… you mean this ferris wheel, right?
Munakata: Yeah. That's right.
Saya: (Somehow, there are only couples in line for the ferris wheel…)
Saya: (Are we really going to ride this? It sure seems like you have to be a pair to ride it)
Munakata: …It's our turn. So, after you, please.
Saya: O-okay…
Saya: (Munakata-senpai said it was private, I wonder what he meant by that…)
Saya: (Wah…It's going up pretty fast. Besides, it's a beautiful night view…)
Munakata: I guess it is about time.
Saya: Wow…! Amazing!!
Saya: (This is what they mean when they say a big flower blooms in the night sky)
Munakata: It was just the right timing.
Saya: Yeah! I have never seen such a big firework!
Munakata: Fufu. I'm glad, too, that you are happy with the reward for the puzzle.
Saya: Reward…?
Munakata: Yeah. I told you the other day I would consider a reward.
Saya: Ah! Was it when I did a jigsaw puzzle with a firework pattern?
Munakata: Yeah. You were the only one who didn't give up until the end.
Saya: (Senpai remembered that…)
Munakata: Well, we're almost at the top.
Saya: Wah! I-It stopped…?
Munakata: It seems so. What in the world is going on?
Announcement: The ferris wheel is now temporarily stopped for equipment maintenance. Please wait for a while.
Saya: Maintenance…
Saya: (It's not like it's broken or anything…? What should we do if it won't work again?)
Munakata: There's no point in panicking. Let's watch the fireworks quietly and wait for it to start moving.
Munakata: Thanks to the fact that the ferris wheel is not moving, don't you think that this is a special seat for watching the fireworks?
Saya: Ah…I see. That's right.
Saya: We're lucky to stay in the best place longer!
Munakata: It's an experience you don't get to have very often, so let's enjoy it to the fullest and go home.
Saya: Yeah!
Munakata: Ahh, by the way, there is something I forgot to mention.
Saya: What is it?
Munakata: The yukata suits you very much.
Saya: T-Thank you…!
Saya: (I was praised by senpai…!)
Saya: Em, senpai looks great too.
Munakata: Thank you. The fireworks are coming to an end soon.
Saya: It'd be good if the ferris wheel is working by the time it's over.
Munakata: Don't worry so much. Everything will be all right.
Saya: Okay…
Munakata: And if it doesn't start moving when we're done, maybe we can do some stargazing this time?
Saya: Oh, that's a great idea! There are no clouds today and it looks like we'll be able to see lots of beautiful stars.
Munakata: Fufu. We have one more thing to look forward to, don't we? Let's enjoy the fireworks slowly for now.
Saya: Okay!
